Lynn Peace Marino's Art and Gourd Gallery

Gourds grow rapidly throughout the summer producing a male and female bloom. The gourd that forms will be from the female bloom which lasts for 24 hours.

Since gourds are 90% water they can take up yo 9 months to dry forming a heavy mold on the outer skin.

Always wear a protective mask when cleaning , cutting or burning a gourd to prevent upper respiratory conditions often called "the gourd flu". The mold that is in and outside of the gourds is often very fine but not healthy just the same.

After an hour soak it is time to  scrub/clean off that outer molded skin

Time for the fun stuff, now that the gourd is  ready,

I can paint ,dye, burn,  sculpt  or cut on the gourd.
